Overview & Procedure

What the treatment is and how it's performed

What it is

Eximia is a device for body treatment. It gives a machine massage that stimulates circulation and lymphatic drainage, and can reduce fluid retention and give smoother skin with cellulite. The treatment can be combined with ultrasound (cavitation) for local fat deposits. The effect is moderate and builds up over a course.

  • Usually a course of 8–10 treatments, once a week.
  • Maintenance once a month.

  1. The practitioner goes through your goals and your health.
  2. The area is measured before the course, so the change can be followed.
  3. The device is moved over the area, possibly together with ultrasound.
  4. The treatment ends, and you get advice on drinking and activity.

The treatment takes 75–90 minutes.

Experience & Recovery

Pain level, downtime and healing

The treatment feels like a firm massage. Most people rate it 0–3 out of 10.

  • Common: slight redness and warmth of the skin.
  • Uncommon: needing to pass urine more often after the treatment.
  • Rare: small bruises.

  • Drink plenty of water for the rest of the day.
  • Light activity, such as a walk, supports circulation.

No downtime. The skin can be slightly red for an hour or two.

Expectations & Safety

Who it's for and safety information

  • The treatment is not a weight-loss treatment. It helps most together with physical activity and a healthy diet.
  • If you take blood-thinning medicines, you bruise more easily. Tell the practitioner before the treatment.
  • If you have had surgery in the area recently, check with your surgeon when the treatment can start.

  • Cellulite and uneven skin.
  • Fluid retention and heavy legs.
  • Local fat deposits that do not respond to exercise.

  • Anyone who wants to lose weight. The treatment shapes and smooths, but does not reduce weight.
  • Large amounts of loose skin or fat. Other treatments may then suit better.

The effect builds up through the course and is kept with maintenance and an active everyday life.

  • Pregnancy.
  • A current or past blood clot, or inflamed varicose veins.
  • Cancer, unless a doctor has cleared you.
  • Serious heart or kidney disease.
  • A pacemaker or another electronic implant.
  • Infection, a fever or inflamed skin in the area.
  • Metal implants in the area.

Contact a doctor if you get swelling, pain, warmth and redness in one leg, or sudden shortness of breath or chest pain. These can be signs of a blood clot. If you have chest pain or difficulty breathing, call 113.
