Experience & Recovery

Pain level, downtime and healing

Pain level

Moderate. Numbing cream or local anesthetic is used. Some discomfort during injection. Soreness afterward.

Downtime

IMPORTANT - Plan for downtime:

  • Minimum: 3-5 days
  • Average: 5-7 days
  • Maximum: 10-14 days
  • NOT for important events (at least 2 weeks margin)

What you can expect:

  • Significant swelling (especially lips)
  • Blisters (40-60%, lasts 3-14 days)
  • About
  • Asymmetry (normal first few days)

Healing time

Day by day:

Day 0: Significant swelling (30-50% more than final result), bruising possible, redness, tenderness

Day 1-3: MAXIMUM swelling (often day 2), asymmetry possible - DON'T PANIC! This is normal

Day 4-7: Swelling decreases significantly, more natural appearance

Day 8-14: Most swelling gone, final result visible

2-week check-up: Assessment and possible adjustment

Individual variation in swelling:

  • Minimal (20-30%): 1-3 days
  • Average (50-60%): 3-7 days
  • Significant (10-20%): 7-14 days

Side effects

This is RARE, but SERIOUS and requires immediate treatment!

Individual variations

Duration varies with:

  • Product type (different density and viscosity)
  • Metabolism
  • Lifestyle (smoking, stress reduces duration)
  • Age (younger = faster degradation)

Swelling varies with:

  • Area (lips swell the most)
  • Individual factors
  • Injection technique
  • Quantity of product

Maintenance

Maintenance schedule:

  • Lips: Every 6-12 months
