Experience & Recovery
Pain level, downtime and healing
Pain level
Mild to moderate tingling or warming sensation during peeling, TSA acid and retinol.
Not painful.
Can be experienced as more active than classic facial treatment.
Downtime
Minimal to light downtime (1-3 weeks)
Slight redness that can be covered after 5-7 days
Tightness and dryness in the first week
Slight peeling may occur on days 2–7 (especially with retinol)
Healing time
Immediately
Clean, fresh skin
Improved glow
Redness at extraction sites (1-2 hours)
Day 1-3
Dryness and tightness of the skin
Flaking: dead skin cells and coagulated surface skin that darkens and dries. If necessary, you can use a little Vaseline if the skin feels very dry, as well as La Roche-Posay Cicaplast or a mild repairing cream 1–2 times a day.
Usually occurs 2–4 days after treatment. Let scabs fall off on their own
Day 3-7
Possible cleansing reaction (acne breakouts) normally the first time. These are impurities that come up.
The cleaning reaction is over.
Flaking or peeling (often after a few days) Falls off on its own within 5–10 days and the skin balances out
Long-term
Gradual improvement with regular treatments
Side effects
Common
Mild redness (1-2 hours)
First time cleaning reaction (normal)
Rare
Irritation on sensitive products
Outbreak
Aftercare
Important finishing touches:
• Do not rub, scratch or pick at the flaking.
• Use Vaseline as needed if skin feels very dry
• Apply a mild repairing cream (such as La Roche-Posay Cicaplast or other mild repairing cream) 1–2 times daily
• Avoid acids, retinol, night creams and active products until the skin is completely healed
• Use sun protection when the skin has healed
