Overview & Procedure

What the treatment is and how it's performed

What it is

Threading is an old technique in which the practitioner twists a cotton thread and rolls it over the skin. The thread catches the hairs and pulls them out from the root, row by row. The method is precise and suits the brows, upper lip, chin and the rest of the face. It uses no chemicals or heat.

  • Every two to four weeks, when the hairs grow back.

  1. The practitioner cleanses the skin.
  2. The thread is rolled over the skin and pulls out the hairs.
  3. The skin is soothed with a cooling gel or cream.
  4. A full-face treatment ends with a short skincare treatment with a mask.

15–45 minutes, depending on the area.

Experience & Recovery

Pain level, downtime and healing

It stings a little as the thread passes over the skin. Most people rate it 2–4 out of 10.

  • Common: redness and small bumps for an hour or two.
  • Rare: small spots or irritation.

  • Avoid make-up and scented creams on the area for the rest of the day.
  • Avoid sun and hot baths on the same day.

No downtime. The skin can be red for an hour or two.
