What it is
In some pain conditions, an injection can reduce inflammation and pain where the problem sits, for example in a joint, a tendon or a muscle attachment. A doctor examines you and assesses whether an injection is the right treatment. There are several types: injections with an anti-inflammatory medicine, a nerve block that dampens pain signals from an area, and treatment with plasma from your own blood (PRP).
