What it is

Long-term pain and fatigue affect energy, sleep, work and daily life. In a guidance session, you map how the symptoms affect your everyday life and what gives and takes energy. You get advice on activity, rest and pacing, and strategies that can make daily life more manageable. The guidance does not replace medical investigation or treatment.

  1. You go through your symptoms and how they affect your daily life.
  2. You map activity, rest and sleep.
  3. You set goals and make a plan.
  4. You get practical advice and strategies to try.

Expectations & Safety

Who it's for and safety information

  • The guidance does not replace investigation and treatment by your GP.
  • The aim is to cope better with daily life, not to remove the symptoms completely.

  • Long-term pain, for example in muscles and joints.
  • Fatigue after illness, infection or cancer treatment.
  • Anyone who wants help spreading their energy through the day.

  • New, unexplained pain or sudden fatigue. Your GP should investigate first.
  • Acute problems that need treatment by a doctor.

Contact your GP or the out-of-hours service if the pain changes a lot or gets worse, or if you get new symptoms such as a fever, weight loss or reduced strength.

Many people benefit from several sessions, so the plan can be adjusted along the way.
