Overview & Procedure

What the treatment is and how it's performed

What it is

AquaGold is a small stamp with 20 very fine needles plated with 24-carat gold. The needles only reach the top layer of the skin and deliver a serum at the same time, for example with hyaluronic acid, vitamins or peptides. Gold is gentle on the skin and rarely irritates. The treatment gives glow, hydration and smoother skin, and also suits sensitive skin.

  • Can be taken as a single treatment, for example before an occasion.
  • For a longer-lasting effect: three treatments four weeks apart.

  1. The practitioner assesses your skin and chooses the serum.
  2. The skin is cleansed, and numbing cream can be applied.
  3. The stamp is pressed systematically over the skin.
  4. The treatment ends with soothing care.

  • Avoid retinol, acids and scrubs for three to five days before.
  • Avoid tanning and self-tan for the last two weeks.
  • If you have had cold sores, tell the clinic before treatment around the mouth.

The treatment itself takes 20–40 minutes, plus the time the numbing cream needs to work.

Experience & Recovery

Pain level, downtime and healing

Most people rate it 1–3 out of 10, because the needles are very fine.

  • Common: redness, swelling, tightness and slight flaking.
  • Uncommon: small spots of blood, small bruises or dryness.
  • Rare: infection, a cold sore outbreak or darker pigment, especially in dark skin.

  • Do not wear make-up for the first day.
  • Use a gentle cleanser and moisturiser for three to five days.
  • Avoid retinol, acids, scrubs and other active products for a week.
  • Avoid hard exercise, saunas and swimming for 24–48 hours.
  • Use a high-factor sunscreen, and avoid strong sun for two weeks.

Usually a few hours of redness. The skin can be slightly red with small marks for the rest of the day. Make-up can be worn the next day.
