Overview & Procedure

What the treatment is and how it's performed

What it is

In a duo massage, two people have a massage at the same time, in the same room, each with their own therapist. The massage follows the techniques of classic massage, and the pressure is adapted to each of you. A duo massage suits couples, friends or family who want to share the experience.

  1. The therapist goes through your health and your wishes.
  2. You lie on a massage bench, well covered with towels.
  3. The therapist massages with oil, and the pressure is adapted to you.
  4. You rest for a while at the end.

The massage takes 45–90 minutes.

Experience & Recovery

Pain level, downtime and healing

The massage should not hurt. The pressure is adapted to you, and you can say so along the way.

  • Common: stiffness or tenderness for one to two days.
  • Uncommon: tiredness or a mild headache for the rest of the day.
  • Rare: bruises or an allergic reaction to the oil.

  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Take it easy for the rest of the day, if you can.

No downtime.

Expectations & Safety

Who it's for and safety information

  • If you take blood-thinning medicines, tell the therapist. The pressure must then be lighter.
  • If you are pregnant, tell the therapist, so the massage and your position can be adapted.
  • Massage relieves, but does not replace examination of pain you do not know the cause of.

  • Couples, friends or family.
  • A gift for two.

  • A fever, an infection or a fresh injury.
  • Wounds, eczema or a rash where you will be massaged.

Many people have massage regularly, for example once a month, to keep muscle tension down.

  • A current or past blood clot, or inflamed varicose veins.
  • Fresh fractures or recent surgery in the area.
  • Cancer, unless a doctor has cleared you.

Contact a doctor if you get swelling, pain, warmth and redness in one leg after the massage. If you have chest pain or difficulty breathing, call 113.
