Benefits

  • Precise depth for each area
  • Can be combined with PRP or a serum
  • Scars, pores and skin texture
  • Short downtime

Expected results

The skin becomes gradually smoother and firmer over two to three months after the series. The result varies with skin type and the number of treatments.

Overview & Procedure

What the treatment is and how it's performed

What it is

A needle pen has a small head with sterile needles that move quickly up and down. The practitioner can set the depth precisely for each area. The small channels start the skin's own repair and collagen production and let serums, PRP or other products reach deeper. The treatment is used for skin texture, scars, pores, fine lines and the scalp.

  • Usually three to four treatments four to six weeks apart.
  • Maintenance once or twice a year.

  1. The practitioner assesses your skin and chooses the needle depth.
  2. The skin is cleaned, and numbing cream is applied.
  3. The skin is treated systematically with the needles, often together with a serum.
  4. The treatment ends with a soothing mask or cream.

  • Avoid retinol, acids and scrubs for three to five days before.
  • Avoid tanning and self-tan for the last two weeks.
  • If you have had cold sores, tell the clinic before treatment around the mouth.

The treatment itself takes 20–40 minutes, plus the time the numbing cream needs to work.

Experience & Recovery

Pain level, downtime and healing

With numbing cream, most people rate the discomfort 2–4 out of 10. Thin skin and areas close to bone are the most sensitive.

  • Common: redness, swelling, tightness and slight flaking.
  • Uncommon: small spots of blood, small bruises or dryness.
  • Rare: infection, a cold sore outbreak or darker pigment, especially in dark skin.

  • Do not wear make-up for the first day.
  • Use a gentle cleanser and moisturiser for three to five days.
  • Avoid retinol, acids, scrubs and other active products for a week.
  • Avoid hard exercise, saunas and swimming for 24–48 hours.
  • Use a high-factor sunscreen, and avoid strong sun for two weeks.

Usually 1–3 days of redness. The skin can be red, warm and tight as after sunburn, and flake a little over the next days. Most people can go to work the next day.

Expectations & Safety

Who it's for and safety information

  • The result comes gradually, because the skin needs time to form new collagen.
  • The clinic uses sterile single-use needles.
  • Dark skin has a higher risk of pigment changes. The practitioner adapts the depth.

  • Acne scars and uneven skin texture.
  • Large pores and oily skin.
  • Fine lines and skin that has lost firmness.
  • The neck, décolleté and scalp.

  • Anyone who wants volume or lift.
  • Inflamed spots or active acne. The acne should be treated first.

The result builds up over two to three months after the series. Many people have a maintenance treatment once or twice a year.

  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding.
  • Inflamed spots, infection, eczema, psoriasis or wounds in the area.
  • An active cold sore.
  • A tendency to raised, growing scars (keloids).
  • Tablet treatment for acne in the last six months.
  • Bleeding disorders. If you take blood-thinning medicine, tell the clinic.

Contact the clinic if pain, swelling or redness increases after two days, or if you get pus, a fever or blisters.
