Overview & Procedure

What the treatment is and how it's performed

What it is

A hair booster is mesotherapy in which a blend of active ingredients is placed with many small injections into the scalp. The blend can contain vitamins, amino acids, peptides, polynucleotides or exosomes and is chosen for the cause of the hair loss. The aim is better conditions for the hair follicles and less shedding. The treatment can start with a doctor consultation.

  • Usually four to six treatments two to four weeks apart.
  • Maintenance every one to three months.

  1. The practitioner examines your hair and scalp and goes through your health.
  2. The scalp is cleaned and disinfected.
  3. The product is placed with many small injections in the scalp where the hair is thin.
  4. The scalp is dried, and you can go straight home.

The treatment takes 30–45 minutes.

Experience & Recovery

Pain level, downtime and healing

Most people rate the discomfort 3–5 out of 10, because the scalp is sensitive. Cooling or numbing cream can be used.

  • Common: tenderness, a mild headache and small bruises on the scalp for a day or two.
  • Uncommon: small bumps or swelling on the scalp and forehead.
  • Rare: infection or an allergic reaction.

  • Wait until the next day before washing your hair or using hair products.
  • Avoid hard exercise, saunas and hot baths for the first day.
  • Wait a week before colouring, bleaching or perming.

No real downtime. The scalp can be tender and slightly swollen for a day. Small marks are hidden by the hair. Wait until the next day to wash your hair.

Expectations & Safety

Who it's for and safety information

  • Hair loss has many causes, for example heredity, hormones, iron deficiency, thyroid problems, stress and illness. The cause should be assessed before treatment.
  • Hair grows slowly. The result is assessed after three to six months.
  • The treatment only works on hair follicles that are still alive. Areas that have been bald for a long time are rarely covered again.

  • Thinning hair and increased shedding.
  • Early hereditary hair loss.
  • Hair loss after stress, childbirth or illness, once the cause has been assessed.

  • Hair loss whose cause has not been assessed, for example sudden or patchy hair loss. A doctor should assess you first.
  • Areas that have been bald for a long time.

The effect on the hair comes gradually and is assessed after three to six months. Maintenance keeps the result.

  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding.
  • Infection, wounds, eczema or a psoriasis flare on the scalp.
  • Bleeding disorders. If you take blood-thinning medicine, tell the clinic.
  • Known allergy to any of the ingredients.

Contact the clinic if pain, swelling or redness increases after two days, or if you get a fever or pus. See a doctor if your hair loss increases quickly or you get patchy hair loss.
