Overview & Procedure

What the treatment is and how it's performed

What it is

Foot massage is a relaxing massage of the feet, often also the ankles and calves. The massage releases tension in the feet, increases circulation and gives a feeling of light legs. With paraffin, the feet are wrapped in warm wax, which softens the skin.

  1. The therapist goes through your health and your wishes.
  2. The feet are washed or given a foot bath.
  3. The feet and calves are massaged with oil or cream.
  4. With paraffin, the feet are wrapped in warm wax at the end.

The massage takes 30–45 minutes.

Experience & Recovery

Pain level, downtime and healing

The massage should not hurt. The pressure is adapted to you, and you can say so along the way.

  • Common: stiffness or tenderness for one to two days.
  • Uncommon: tiredness or a mild headache for the rest of the day.
  • Rare: bruises or an allergic reaction to the oil.

  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Take it easy for the rest of the day, if you can.

No downtime.

Expectations & Safety

Who it's for and safety information

  • If you take blood-thinning medicines, tell the therapist. The pressure must then be lighter.
  • If you are pregnant, tell the therapist, so the massage and your position can be adapted.
  • Massage relieves, but does not replace examination of pain you do not know the cause of.

  • Tired, sore feet.
  • Dry skin on the feet.
  • Anyone who wants a short, relaxing treatment.

  • Wounds, infection, athlete's foot or eczema on the feet.
  • A fever or a fresh injury in the foot.

Many people have massage regularly, for example once a month, to keep muscle tension down.

  • A current or past blood clot, or inflamed varicose veins.
  • Fresh fractures or recent surgery in the area.
  • Cancer, unless a doctor has cleared you.
