Overview & Procedure

What the treatment is and how it's performed

What it is

Microdosing means the practitioner uses smaller amounts of a muscle relaxant than usual, spread over more points. The muscles still move, only a little less, so fine lines soften and the expression stays lively. The treatment suits anyone trying it for the first time or wanting a very natural result.

  • One treatment.
  • A check-up after two weeks, with adjustment if needed.
  • A new treatment after three months at the earliest.

  1. The doctor or practitioner goes through your health, your medicines and your wishes.
  2. You are asked to use the muscles, for example to frown, so the points can be marked.
  3. The skin is cleaned.
  4. Small amounts are injected with a very thin needle at set points.

The treatment itself takes 10–15 minutes.

Experience & Recovery

Pain level, downtime and healing

Most people rate the discomfort 1–3 out of 10. The needle is very thin, and each prick lasts only a moment. Numbing is not usually needed.

  • Common: small bruises, tenderness or a mild headache for the first days.
  • Uncommon: a temporary asymmetry, for example one eyebrow sitting higher than the other. This can often be adjusted at the check-up.
  • Rare: a drooping eyelid or brow if the effect reaches a neighbouring muscle. It wears off by itself, usually within a few weeks.
  • Very rare: an allergic reaction.

  • Stay upright for the first four hours.
  • Do not massage or rub the area for the rest of the day.
  • Avoid hard exercise, saunas and hot baths for the first day.
  • Wait a week before other treatments in the area, such as massage and facials.

No downtime. Small marks and slight swelling where the needle went in usually settle within an hour. You can go back to work the same day.

Expectations & Safety

Who it's for and safety information

  • A doctor assesses you before the first treatment.
  • The treatment softens the movement that creates the lines. Lines that show even when the face is at rest become softer but do not always disappear completely.
  • The aim is a natural expression. You should still be able to use your face.

  • Fine expression lines.
  • Anyone trying the treatment for the first time.
  • Anyone who wants a very natural result.

  • Deep lines that need a stronger effect.
  • Anyone who wants a long-lasting result without repeat treatments.

The effect builds up over 3–14 days. It is lighter and usually shorter than with a standard dose, often 2–3 months.

  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding.
  • Diseases of the nerves and muscles, such as myasthenia gravis.
  • Infection or inflammation in the area.
  • Allergy to the contents or an earlier reaction to this kind of treatment.
  • Some medicines, for example certain antibiotics, can strengthen the effect. Always tell the clinic which medicines you use.

Contact the clinic if you get a drooping eyelid, double vision or clear asymmetry in the face. Call 113 if you have difficulty swallowing, speaking or breathing.
