Overview & Procedure

What the treatment is and how it's performed

What it is

Brow treatments bring together shaping, tinting, henna and lamination of the brows. In shaping, hairs outside the desired shape are removed with tweezers, wax or thread. The practitioner looks at the shape of your face, your eyes and how your brows grow, and shapes the brows to suit your face. Tinting and henna give more defined brows, and lamination sets the hairs in a new direction. The treatments can be combined, also with lash tinting and a lash lift.

  • Every four to six weeks, when the hairs grow back.

  1. The practitioner goes through the shape you want.
  2. The brows are brushed and measured.
  3. Hairs outside the shape are removed with tweezers, wax or thread.
  4. The skin is soothed with a cooling gel or cream.

  • Let your brows grow for a few weeks before the first shaping, so the practitioner has something to shape.
  • Come without make-up on your brows, if you can.

Shaping takes 15–30 minutes. With tinting, it takes longer.

Experience & Recovery

Pain level, downtime and healing

It stings a little as the hairs are removed. Most people rate it 1–3 out of 10.

  • Common: slight redness and small bumps for an hour or two.
  • Rare: small spots or irritation.

  • Avoid make-up and scented creams on the area for the rest of the day.
  • Avoid sun and hot baths on the same day.

No downtime. The skin can be slightly red for an hour or two.

Expectations & Safety

Who it's for and safety information

  • If you use retinoids on your skin, or have taken tablets for acne in the last six months, tell the practitioner. The skin can then be more fragile. The practitioner should then use tweezers instead of wax.
  • Brow tinting needs an allergy test the first time.

  • Anyone who wants neat brows with a shape that suits their face.
  • Brows that have grown out of shape.

  • Wounds, eczema, spots or irritated skin in the brow area.
  • Recently sunburnt skin on the face.

Contact the clinic if you get itching, swelling, a rash or watery, red eyes after the treatment. If you get swelling of the face, lips or tongue, or difficulty breathing, call 113.

The shape lasts four to six weeks.
