Overview & Procedure

What the treatment is and how it's performed

What it is

Henna is a plant-based dye that colours both the brow hairs and the skin beneath. The colour on the skin fills in gaps in the brows, so they look fuller and more defined. The colour on the skin lasts one to two weeks, and the colour on the hairs longer. Brow henna can contain other dyes as well, so an allergy test is as important as with ordinary tint.

  • The first time you tint your brows or lashes, or if it is long since last time, you should have an allergy test at least 48 hours before. The practitioner places a little tint behind your ear or in the crook of your elbow.
  • Come without make-up on your brows and lashes, if you can.

  1. The practitioner goes through the shape and colour you want.
  2. The skin is cleansed, and the shape is drawn.
  3. The henna is applied and left to work for 10–20 minutes.
  4. The henna is removed, and the brows are shaped at the end.

The treatment takes about 30 minutes.

Experience & Recovery

Pain level, downtime and healing

The treatment does not hurt.

  • Uncommon: stinging or redness of the skin where the tint has been.
  • Rare: an allergic reaction to the tint, with itching, swelling or a rash.

  • Keep water off the brows for the first 24 hours.
  • Avoid exfoliation, oil and cleansers with acid on the brows. This helps the colour last longer.

No downtime.
