Overview & Procedure

What the treatment is and how it's performed

What it is

Extra decoration is an add-on to a manicure, gel polish or gel nails. It can be French tips, ombré, patterns, stones or glitter. The decoration is applied before the top coat, so it lasts as long as the polish.

  1. You choose the decoration with the practitioner.
  2. The decoration is applied to the nails after the colour.
  3. Top coat is applied over it and cured.

The decoration takes an extra 15–30 minutes.

Experience & Recovery

Pain level, downtime and healing

The treatment does not hurt.

  • Rare: stones or decoration coming loose before the polish.

  • Wear gloves for washing up and cleaning.
  • Apply oil or cream to your cuticles and hands every day.
  • Do not pick or peel off gel polish or gel nails. This takes layers of the nail with it and makes it thin and weak.
  • Come back for a refill or removal once the nails have grown out, usually after three to four weeks.

No downtime.

Expectations & Safety

Who it's for and safety information

  • The decoration is booked together with a manicure, pedicure, gel polish or gel nails.

  • Anyone who wants patterns, French tips, ombré or glitter on their nails.
  • Hands and feet.

  • Nail fungus, infection or wounds around the nails.
  • Eczema or a rash on the hands or around the nails.
  • A known allergy to acrylates.

Contact the clinic or a doctor if you get itching, redness, blisters or swelling around the nails or on the skin, or signs of infection such as pus, warmth and increasing pain.

The decoration lasts as long as the polish beneath it, usually two to three weeks.
